History of the May Pop is on the back of the card:

May Pop, the Passion Flower. Three-lobed leaf, the flower is colorful, purplish and white. Grows on a vine. Each unique flower last about one day, appearing in the summer and early fall. The fruit on this Passion Flower is about the size of a chicken egg; green, then turns yellowish. Since the vine grows everywhere the fruit will be on the grown at times and when you step on it, it makes the popping sound.

So that’s where the “Pop” comes from in the “May Pop”.
